Short Film Face Off host Steve Patterson. Live tapings are in June in Halifax.
Tickets are available for live tapings of Short Film Face Off on June 11, 12, 13 and 14, 6:30 p.m., at CBC Halifax, 6940 Mumford Rd.
Short Film Face Off is a four-part, one hour television series showcasing emerging filmmakers from across Canada. The Nova Scotia producer of the series is Bill Niven of Idlewild Films.
Host Steve Patterson joins this year’s panelists of broadcaster, actor and playwright Amanda Parris, film critic Mohit Rajhans and arts commentator Eli Glasner.
The shows are broadcast nationally in prime time over the CBC network with the aim to to increase the profile of young Canadian filmmakers. Telefilm Canada contributes a $30,000 cash award to the top filmmaker towards his or her next short film. Wm. F. White International donates $15,000 in equipment rentals awards.
2019 is the show’s 12th season. Many alumni who have gone on to direct feature films, according to a press release, include Nova Scotia filmmakers Andrew Bush, Jay Dahl, Ashley MacKenzie, Greg Jackson, Scott Simpson and Cory Bowles; Newfoundland-based filmmakers Stephen Dunn, Martine Blue and Jordan Canning and Vancouver’s Kyle Rideout.
